  • My enormous paws that work like snowshoes, distributing my weight equally to help stop me from breaking through the ice and snow.

  • Biggest threat

  • Climate change is melting the sea ice so we need to hunt earlier each year, and it’s forming later. This means we now have a shorter feeding season in which to build up our fat reserves.

  • I have an excellent sense of smell and can smell seals under 1 metre of snow and from almost 1 km away.
